Curriculum
The curriculum of Village Christian Academy is centered around biblical integration and is sequenced from one grade to the next. While many different textbooks are used to accomplish our mission, they are simply tools used by our teachers to assist in the instruction process. The Teachers at Village Christian Academy use texts from ABeka, Prentice Hall, ACSI, and various other publishers both Christian and secular. Textbooks are used after carefully evaluating them to make sure they are not in conflict with God’s Word. The NIV version of the Bible is used in the classroom and for most memory work. Additionally, novels will be introduced beginning in the third grade.
To help students get organized, each will be given a VCA planner in 3rd through 12th grades. All students will be assigned lockers and locks in the middle school and high school. Students will be assessed a $10 fee for all locks that are not returned at the end of the school year. The office will furnish a student supply list for Kindergarten through 8th grade at the end of the school year. It is the family’s responsibility to purchase the items on the list by the first day of school. High School students will receive a supply list from teachers on the first day of school.
Participation in our summer reading program is required for every student entering TK-1 and above. Our reading list along with its summer writing assignments is available in the school office, on our website, and at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore.
