Welcome to the Village Christian Academy Fine Arts Page!!! Our Fine Arts Program consists of High School and Middle School Chorus, Elementary Choir, Band, Art and Ballet. Mrs. Spena teaches High School and Middle School Chorus and Elementary Choir. Mr. Pittman teaches Band. Art is taught by Mrs. Poulos and Ballet is taught by Mrs. Spooner. We also have a violin program which is taught by Mrs. Swanson. Mrs. Spena can be reached at (910)483-5500 ext. 272
We also offer private piano lessons to VCA students beginning in 3rd grade.The lessons are either taught during the school day (if we are able to schedule after consulting with the teachers and parents) and before or after school. The lessons are $12.50 per half hour and are paid directly to the teacher. A recital is given at the end of the year and select students will participate in the ACSI Piano Festival, which happens in Spring.

Village Christian Academy is committed to the furtherance of the Fine Arts in all areas. Parents are encouraged to join the Fine Arts Booster Club each year for a nominal fee. We offer a wide variety of courses.
- BAND – beginning, intermediate, and advanced band classes. Students may begin band in the 4th grade. Instruments can be purchased or rented from local music stores. Performances, which include holiday concerts and competitions, are mandatory. HS students may letter in band provided they keep an “A” average in band.
- CHORUS – Elementary, Middle School, and High School performance groups. All VCA students receive music training starting in Kindergarten. Middle School chorus student grades 6-8 must audition with Mrs. Spena. High School choir students must also audition with Director Mrs. Spena. In addition, HS students must commit to an occasional fund-raiser in order to pay for his/her tux or gown, and trips to competitions. HS Choir members may letter in choir provided they keep an “A” average in choir.
- KEYBOARD – group piano lessons. Our school pianist offers group lessons twice a week in our keyboard lab. These classes are offered to 3rd and 4th grade students immediately after school for a small monthly fee.
- PIANO – individual lessons are available with qualified experienced teachers on a limited basis once a week. Sign-ups are at Open House and lessons are scheduled by mid-September. A small fee is required.
- VIOLIN – Suzuki trained. Twice a week our trained instructor works with young students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Small monthly fee required.
- BALLET – open to all students beginning in our pre-school. Beginning and intermediate ballet classes are offered once a week on campus with Mrs. Spooner, a member of the VCA faculty. She is a trained ballerina with her own dance studio in the area. Small fee required.
- HONORS/AP MUSIC THEORY – high school courses open to select music students interested in a college level study of music. Instructor permission required.
- ART – both middle school and high school courses are available. Instructor permission is required for advanced art students.
