VILLAGE FINE ARTS
Village Christian Academy provides a visual and performing arts program to foster and develop gifts,
talents, and abilities for the glory of God.
James 1:17a states, "Every good and perfect gift comes from above."
We recognize that every student is uniquely created by the Master Designer, with a
God-ordained purpose and plan.
Fine Arts Philosophy
The mission of the Village Christian Academy Art Department is to guide every student to develop an appreciation of God and His creation through personal artistic expression. God created man in His own image for us to be like Him and reflect His nature when we create. God gave man the gift of imagination. Art contributes to spiritual development and creativity, but it is how we come to know, appreciate, and imagine according to God's Word that we begin to understand how this gift can be used fruitfully for His purpose. Whether students become creators or consumers of the arts, they must be taught how to be discerning Christians in a world full of images.
Starting in elementary, students take computer classes to improve their efficiency and to learn how to navigate our technological society. In the high school, courses like Yearbook, Journalism and Digital Media allow for further exploration. Chapel Club offers experience in video editing, production and lighting.
Students stretch their creativity through art classes that teach drawing, painting, sculpture and modern art techniques.
Middle School and High School Drama students create and prepare short scenes and monologues for the Spring Drama Showcase. High School students as well as seventh and eighth graders have the opportunity to audition and perform in the annual Spring Musical.
The seventh and eighth grade Tone Chime classes perform at the annual Christmas concert and the annual Spring concert. Students also perform at local nursing homes to share their talents with the community. Seventh and eight grade students play various percussive instruments throughout the year. These students also add the "extra touch" to selections in the annual Christmas concert and the annual Spring concert.
Students volunteer and work in their free time to prepare worship experiences in Middle School and High School chapels.
Middle School Praise Team is an elective class offered to seventh and eighth graders. Each class meets once a week to prepare songs used for worship during weekly chapels.
